On December 4th, 2021 at 8:00 PM, The Midnight Special folk music show welcomes Maxwell Street Klezmer Band to perform on the air for their annual Hanukkah celebration! The radio show will feature vocalist Cantor Pavel Roytman, an award-winning tenor and Cantor of Beth Hillel Bnai Emunah in Wilmette, IL.

CANTORIAL

Cantor Pavel Roytman is a member of the American Conference of Cantors, Chicago-Milwaukee Association of Synagogue Music, and the Cantor’s Assembly. He currently serves as a cantor for Beth Hillel B’nai Emunah, a conservative egalitarian congregation in Wilmette Illinois.

KLEZMER

Cantor Roytman is a well-known performer and interpreter of Yiddish folk songs and songs of the Yiddish Theater. He often appears in concerts accompanied by Chicago’s leading Klezmer ensembles, The Maxwell Street Klezmer Band and the Tum Balalaika Band.

 

CONDUCTING

Cantor Roytman is an experienced conductor, arranger, and interpreter of traditional and contemporary Jewish Choral Music. He is a principal conductor for Kol Zimrah Community Singers, Chicago’s primer Jewish Community Choir.

SERVICES

Cantor Roytman also officiates at weddings. In addition to the actual wedding ceremony (the chuppah), cantor offers pre-marital guidance and counseling to those soon-to-be wed. He also offers his advice on all things musical including the music for the ceremony, the DJ, or the band.
